There are many things in life that are usually a given - death, taxes, and having to work. Not everyone is fortunate to have a job. But, for those that have one, 87% DO NOT LIKE going to work. WOAH!!!

I will repeat that. Eighty-seven percent of workers don't enjoy working. Approximately one-third of that person's life or more is not enjoyable.

So that means only 13% of people actually like working. That's incredible and also very sad. Even worse is that this is a global number. People seem to hate their jobs no matter where they live in the world. Life is way too short to be unhappy.

I'm sure many of you can relate to this. On an average Sunday night, the thought of going to work the next day is depressing to many.

I felt the same way for much of my 25+ years of being employed. One day I said enough is enough! I am no longer interested in working. I was so tired of that Sunday-night-feeling dreading Monday morning.

There's a famous saying that goes something like, "When you love what you do, you no longer work another day in your life."

I decided to do just that. I had been selling real estate for many years and at times I loved it. But, more often than not, I didn't like it.

For many of you watching the TV series, Million Dollar Listing, selling luxury real estate for a living seems like a dream job. To me, it sounded like one too.

Even though I had been in the real estate biz for a while, most of my transactions were properties $500,000 or less. Only about 10-15% of my sales were higher than that.

Whenever I did sell more expensive properties, I was totally in love with my job and didn't feel like I was ever working.

There is a HUGE difference between selling real estate and selling LUXURY real estate. It requires so much more from the agent and the transaction is much different.

A luxury real estate agent needs to know the market inside and out, know where the best pocket listings are, not worry about his/her highest sales being hidden from the public because of confidentiality reasons, be very efficient with emails and texts to wealthy clients, be willing to spend thousands of dollars on each listing, have a huge network of high net worth international clients and great relationships with the best agents around the world.

These are just a handful of the many things that need to be done to have success in the luxury real estate market.

Although it is a lot more work and a much larger financial investment, for me, it does not feel like a job. It is something that I love being a part of and see myself doing for the rest of my life. If I'm ever lucky enough to win the Powerball jackpot, I can guarantee that the day after my wife and I pick up our check, I will be back in the office working on my marketing plan to sell my next luxury home.

Today, I am happy to say that about 75% or more of my business is in the luxury real estate market. I no longer dread those Sunday nights thinking about work the next day. I am so excited for the next day! Every single night when I go to sleep, I can't wait to wake up, so I can do what I LOVE.
